For responsible forest management

We are proud that Babiem is FSC® certified. The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international non-profit organisation that is committed to responsible forest management worldwide 🌎.

The FSC® quality mark guarantees that the materials we use come from responsibly managed forests that balance social, economic and ecological interests.

The importance of organic cotton

In addition to FSC® certification, we also believe it is important that textiles are produced in a natural, environmentally friendly and socially responsible way. That is why we are currently in the process of obtaining our GOTS certification so that we can hopefully sell organic textiles in the future.

Biological materials

Textile products are made from organically grown fibers, without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides.

Carefully selected factories

We believe that durability is not just about the environment, but also about respecting the rights and well-being of the people who make our products. That is why we only work with factories that are accredited by the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) or similar parties. You can read more about this below.

What is BSCI?

BSCI is a leading system that supports companies in their efforts to improve working conditions in their supply chains 📈.
Through a shared code of conduct and monitoring system, BSCI (and similar parties) promote work ethics worldwide.

The BSCI principles we focus on:

No child labor:
Of course, we find it important that there is no child labor in our supply chain. We only work with factories that strictly adhere to the minimum age for work as set by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and national legislation.
Safe and healthy working conditions:
BSCI-accredited factories must provide a safe and healthy working environment. This includes access to clean drinking water, adequate sanitation and safe work practices.

Our packaging

At Babiem, durability is central, also in the production of our packaging. We consciously choose recyclable materials and strive to limit the packaging material to a minimum. Where plastic is unavoidable, we use recycled plastic and keep its use as low as possible. Plastic may be necessary in some cases to prevent mold formation during transport of our organic and natural materials. In addition, we package our products in FSC®-certified boxes, which we close with paper tape. We also do not use PVC in our packaging. In this way, we ensure that our packaging is not only safe and functional, but also contributes to a better world for the next generations.

At Babiem we strive to make responsible choices in every aspect of our business.

Here are some of the steps we take to minimize our impact on the environment:

Smart and efficient packaging
We try to pack everything as well and smart as possible, so that we need as less space as possible for shipping. In this way we contribute to reducing our ecological footprint.

More durable transport
In order to transport our products to the Netherlands as durable as possible, we 'save' full containers. Whether it is by sea, air or road transport, depending on the production location, we ensure that our containers are used to the maximum. This minimises the number of transport movements and therefore the CO2 emissions.
Designed in the Netherlands, international production
Our products are carefully designed in-house in the Netherlands. For our production we work together with carefully selected partner factories in China, India and Europe (BSCI accredited). We attach great importance to close and long-term collaborations with our partners, which contributes to the consistency and quality of our products.
Always looking for more durable alternatives
Although we strive to use FSC® or GOTS certified raw materials, this is not always possible for all products due to specific requirements. In such cases, we always critically look at other durable alternatives, such as the use of recycled materials under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
